Irish Republican and Sinn Fein party flags and banners were burnt alongside effigies and posters of high-profile Republican figures in Belfast, Monday night. The traditional "Eleventh Night" bonfires preceded annual “Orange Walks” march through Belfast and marked the start of commemorations of the victory of Protestant King William of Orange over Catholic King James II at the Battle of the Boyne in Ireland in 1690.
