Around 20,000 people took to the streets of Belgrade on Saturday, to protest a government-backed redevelopment project, the Belgrade Waterfront. The huge crowd gathered under the motto 'Let's not drown Belgrade' and marched through the city, holding banners reading "Looking for our country" and "Whose city? Our city." The disputed Belgrade Waterfront project is expected to cost around €3.5 billion ($3.9 billion) and is to change the Sava Riverbank into a luxury district with office buildings and high-end homes, while multiple buildings have been demolished to pave the way for its construction.
