Thousands came to see the latest edition of the traditional 'Calcio Storico' (historic football) at the Piazza Santa Croce in Florence, Friday. Participating teams represent four different districts of the center of Florence, and each team comprises 27 players. Headbutting, choking and elbowing are allowed; however kicks to the head are banned. Goals can be scored in two ways: by throwing the ball over a designated spot on the edge of the pitch, and by running the width of the field’s short end.
