Several cars were set on fire after clashes erupted between police and left-wing activists on Rigaer Strasse in Berlin's Friedrichshain district, Thursday.

Earlier in the week, a building on Rigaer Strasse was cleared by 300 police officers after the local property management company reportedly asked for help in the eviction. It was reportedly one of the city's longest-occupied buildings.

According to a police spokesperson, at least two batons and a pistol were allegedly found in a box of weapons. The police also confiscated numerous bicycles. A small group of protesters gathered outside the building in solidarity with the occupants. According to police, the evacuation was carried out peacefully.
