Protesters and riot police clashed during a demonstration against the establishment of refugee 'hotspots' and deportation near the Moria refugee center on the Greek island of Lesbos on Thursday. Volunteers and activists who had worked in the refugee center rallied peacefully with the slogans "stop deportation" and "open borders for all, safe passage for all," condemning what they see as the mistreatment of refugees and the potential deportation of refugees to Turkey. The asylum seekers joined the march by shouting and chanting behind the wire. One of the protesters was reportedly detained for spraying a sign on a police van during the march.
