Several people were injured including at least two policemen after violence broke out at the Benito Juarez Autonomous University of Oaxaca, Tuesday, as a council was electing a new head of the university. A group of students and teachers from the university’s Union of Academic Workers began to protest at the council meeting. Police arrived at the scene and fired tear gas at the protesters, leading to further violence that continued outside the building.
