Over 1,200 women marched through central London in a protest organized by 'Million Women Rise' (MWR). They denounce violence against women as well as the government's plans to cut funding to services providing support to victims of domestic violence. During the rally, protesters played drums and held placards condemning home assaults, with messages including "Respect all women", and "Together we can end male violence against women." The rally was organized to coincide with International Women's Day. An estimated 1.4 million women suffered domestic abuse in UK last year, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
