Thousand of Ukrainian nationalists took to the streets of the Ukrainian capital on Saturday to call for the release of Andrei Medvedko and Denis Polishchuk, who stand accused of murdering opposition journalist Oles Buzina. Protesters lit flares as they marched through the streets of Kiev to the headquarters of the public prosecutor. The protest was attended and organized by a range of Ukrainian far-right and nationalist groups, including the Svoboda party, Right Sector, and members of the volunteer battalions. Buzina was shot dead on April 16, 2015 in front of his apartment in Kiev. Ukrainian authorities arrested several suspects in June. The journalist was known for his pro-Russian views and had received numerous death threats from Ukrainian nationalists prior to his murder.
