Athens’ streets were engulfed in smoke and tear gas on Sunday after violent clashes erupted between anarchists and riot police on the seventh anniversary of a 15-year-old anarchist's killing by police. The protesters, many of whom were wearing gas masks, threw Molotov cocktails and launched fireworks towards riot police, who in turn used tear gas and lobbed stun grenades toward the protesters. Alexis Grigoropoulos was killed by a police officer on December 6, 2008.
