Severe flooding in southeastern France caused serious damage to hundreds of cars and washed dozens of vehicles out to sea on Saturday night. At least 16 people died, while five remain missing, reported Reuters. The French Riviera, especially the cities of Antibes and Nice, were hit by torrential rainfall, accounting for around 10 percent of the annual total. Roughly 27,000 homes remain without electricity after the Brague River overflowed. Railway services have ground to a halt and hundreds of people have been left stranded at Nice airport.
