At least six arrests were made after an estimated 500 'Black Lives Matter' protesters rallying against police brutality broke past police cordons on a major interstate motorway and attempted to block traffic in Austin, Texas, Saturday. There was evidence that police used pepper spray against peaceful protesters while apprehending participants in the demonstration. The altercations followed demonstrators, some on motorcycles, breaking past a line of police officers on bicycles who were attempting to block protesters from marching down the I-35 interstate motorway. They later marched to the Texas Capitol building. The march was held simultaneously with a 'Police Lives Matter' demonstration, an overwhelmingly white pro-police demonstration. The two groups were reportedly kept separated by riot police cordons.
