Milestone launch: New ISS crew lifts off in Baikonur 500th manned flight

An international crew of Sergey Volkov, of the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos), Andreas Mogensen, of the European Space Agency (ESA), and Aidyn Aimbetov, of the Kazakh Space Agency, successfully launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. The Soyuz TMA-18M is the 500th manned rocket launched from the cosmodrome. The crew will arrive at the ISS in two days, where they will be greeted by Expedition 44, Commander Gennady Padalka, flight engineers Oleg Kononenko and Mikhail Kornienko of Roscosmos, NASA's Scott Kelly and Kjell Lindgren, and Kimiya Yui of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency.
