Some 2,000 pro-refugee activists took to the streets of Leipzig on Monday to rally against PEGIDA (Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamisation of the Occident) offshoot LEGIDA holding a rally in the same city. The anti-LEGIDA protesters held signs saying "refugees welcome" and "Leipzig shows courage" as they walked through the city. Further away in the city center, around 150 members of LEGIDA held their weekly demonstration. They held German flags and anti-Islamic signs. Police kept the groups separate and no clashes were reported.
