The youth wing of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), the Patriotic Revolutionary Youth Movement (YDGH), clashed with Turkish security forces in Istanbul from Sunday evening through to the early hours of Monday. The protesters threw Molotov cocktails at the police, with security forces firing tear gas. The fierce unrest has been ongoing for over a week, as the YDGH support the victims of the recent clashes between Turkish security forces and members of the PKK that claimed the lives of three people. The protest is also believed to be a reaction to recent security operations and arrests by the Turkish state in the wake of the July 20 Suruc bombing.
