A demonstration in support of the victims of clashes between Turkish security forces and members of the youth wing of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) ended in violence in Istanbul’s Gazi district late Thursday night. The protesters threw Molotov cocktails and fireworks, and fired alarm guns at police, lighting up the whole street. Security forces responded by firing water cannon and tear gas. Three civilians were killed and seven more injured when PKK members clashed with Turkish security forces in the Yuksekova district of Hakkari on Wednesday.
