Thousands took to the streets of Mexico City on Wednesday to commemorate 43 students from a college in Ayotzinapa, as 11 months has passed since their disappearance. The marchers demanded that authorities provide them with an explanation for the tragedy and details concerning the ongoing investigation. Many in the crowd held up pictures of the missing young people and chanted anti-government slogans. Forty-three students from Ayotzinapa disappeared on 26 September 2014 after being detained by police. A series of protests have been held since then, but the circumstances surrounding the students’ deaths are still unknown.
