Thousands of protesters against alleged fraud in local elections clashed with police in San Miguel de Tucuman in northern Argentina on Monday. The demonstrators chanted slogans against the local governor and lit fires, as the police used rubber bullets and tear gas in an attempt to disperse the crowds. The ruling party’s governor, Juan Manzu, won election in Tucuman on Sunday, defeating opposition candidate José Cano.
