The police freed a woman who worked as a slave for a month in Chiniot in the Punjab region on Monday. She had been sold by her husband to a local entrepreneur for just €442 ($489). The woman’s ‘employer,’ who is still at large, kept her chained to a bed and compelled her to work, often beating her severely. The woman’s husband hoped to earn some extra money for himself with the deal. She was lucky to be freed as a local journalist became aware of the incident and came to the crime scene with police.
