Hundreds of visitors came to the former Berlin airport, Tempelhof, to watch actors stage a play amid a display of 3,000 candles on Thursday evening. Surrounded by the candlelight and 250-year-old suitcases, eight actors portrayed stories of their hopes and disappointments in a performance that lasted 75 minutes. The event, called “Die Grosse Reise” (The Big Trip), was set up by the 'Theater Anu' group.

The former Berlin airport was turned into Tempelhof Park (Tempelhofer Feld) in 2008. The area, which has a 6-kilometer cycling, skating and jogging trail, a dog-walking field and a 2.5-hectare BBQ area, is open to the public.
