A large oil spill set the surface of the Moskva River ablaze in Moscow’s eastern district of Maryino on Wednesday. The fire broke out in the afternoon, causing a huge plume of thick black smoke to rise into the sky above the city near what is known to be a crude oil pipeline. According to an eyewitness and various social media photos, the blaze was so massive that it was clearly visible from Red Square in the very heart of the capital.
