Kursk base commemorates nuclear sub tragedy

Hundreds of people, including relatives, friends, and colleagues of the victims of the Kursk tragedy, commemorated the 15th anniversary of the event in the submarine’s home base of Vidyayevo in Murmansk region, Russia, on Wednesday. The people paid their respects by laying flowers for those who died in the disaster. Commemoration events, including church services and military ceremonies, were held across Russia. The Kursk sank in the Barents Sea during a maritime exercise on August 12, 2000. There were no survivors among the 118 people on board.
