Far-right activists gathered in Javra, a Muslim area of Stockholm, in alleged support of a LGBT protest on Wednesday. The rally was organized by a former editor of a website affiliated with the far-right Swedish Democrats (SD) party. A counter-demonstration of around 100 protesters shadowed the so-called “Pride Parade,” but no violence was reported. Organizer Jan Sjunnesson is a former editor of Samtiden, a website owned by the anti-immigration SD, which has a history of supporting the traditional family and opposing same-sex marriage. SD is now the country’s third-largest political party following the 2014 general election, when they won 49 seats in parliament after receiving 12.9 percent of the popular vote.
