Thousands of security and public sector employees gathered in front of the Prime Minister's office in Warsaw on Thursday to demand higher wages. Police and prison officers, firefighters and border guards all showed up at the protest, which is the largest of its kind in Poland for many years, according to local media sources. The Polish government has currently frozen all state-employed workers salaries' in an attempt to contain the budget as part of the country’s preparations for joining the eurozone. Workers in these sectors have not received a pay rise since 2010.
