Tensions were high as the New Black Panther Party and members of the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) attended separate rallies against and in support of the Confederate flag outside the South Carolina Statehouse on Saturday. At least one protester was arrested while scuffles were also reported. Around 100 members of the KKK and affiliated groups were reported to have attended the rally, with New Black Panther Party members and 'Black Lives Matter' activists rumored to be in the hundreds. The protests come after the Confederate flag was removed from the Statehouse on July 10 following the racial killing of nine worshippers at Charleston's historic Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church.
