Bonfires were lit across Belfast on Sunday, as the pro-UK Unionist community celebrated the anniversary of the Battle of the Boyne, when Protestant William of Orange defeated Catholic King James II in 1690. Festivities had been moved forward one day as July 12 fell on a Sunday this year. Revelers danced around the Finaghy bonfire, and burned Irish flags and Sinn Fein posters.
