One man has died after being gored by bull during a summer festival in Coria, a southwestern town in Spain.
Sanjuanes de Coria, a festival where a bull gets teased by a crowd and eventually shot, took place on Wednesday in western Spain, despite repeated criticism from animal rights activists.
During the 500 year old event, the old town is turned into a bullring and the streets are lined with fences. Residents then tease the bull and try to get the animal's attention, as it makes its way through the town. Eventually, the bull is killed. This year the animal was shot in the head. Previously activists and politicians have called for Sanjuanes de Coria to be banned, but Coria's mayor, José Manuel Garcia Ballestero, defended the killing saying it is a tradition and will carry on for many years to come.
