At least 24 people have died after record rainfall caused flooding and chaos in Dallas, Texas on Saturday, prompting US President Barack Obama to declare a 'major disaster' in the southern state. Streets and roads were submerged in Grapevine, a suburb of Dallas, with some residents forced to evacuate after homes and apartments were flooded following the swelling of a nearby creek. Flash flood warnings have been in place for several counties in the north of Texas with more rain expected in the coming days. Seven people have also died in the neighboring state of Oklahoma.
