Thousands of people took part in the March of Silence in the Uruguayan capital, Montevideo, on Wednesday, in memory of the people who disappeared during the country’s 1973-85 dictatorship. Many demonstrators carried portraits of the missing and a banner reading "Stop impunity! Truth and justice." The demonstration took place just several hours after President Tabare Vazquez created a special group to investigate the violations of human rights under the military dictatorship.
