Hundreds across the United States protested recent incidents of police brutality against African Americans on Tuesday. In Los Angeles around 200 protesters rallied in front of the local Police Department headquarters, shutting down parts of downtown LA as they marched through the city. In New York hundreds of protesters marched from Union Square towards City Hall and the NYPD headquarters, and also managed to shut down Broadway, as well as parts of the Brooklyn Bridge. Both protests resulted in arrests. The nationwide event was organized by members of the Stop Mass Incarceration Network and was inspired by previous year’s deaths of African Americans from violent police actions.
