Around 300 hundred anti-war activists, protesting a US military convoy passing through the Czech Republic, met with a counter-demonstration organised by pro-NATO and EU protesters in Prague on Saturday. Both groups carried flags and placards, with pro-Russian flags waved in the anti-NATO camp, and pro-US and pro-NATO placards held by the EU supporters. Small scuffles and arguments broke out between the two groups, but there were no reports of violence and no arrests made. The anti-war protesters were decrying the NATO drills currently being held throughout several Eastern European countries dubbed “Operation Dragoon Ride.” The exercises include a convoy of over a hundred US Stryker armoured fighting vehicles stopping off in various European cities. The vehicles are set to reach Czech territory between March 29 and April 1 as they return to a military base in the German city of Vilseck.
