Severe floods devastated one of the driest areas in the world, the city of Copiapo in Chile’s Atacama Desert, as the area’s expected annual volume of rainwater fell in just two days. According to the latest reports, several people have died and over a dozen are missing, with around 20,000 people without power in the Atacama region alone. The storms began Tuesday evening, drenching the Andes Mountains and the Atacama Desert.
