The astonishing footage of the abandoned Beelitz-Sanatorium on the outskirts of Berlin was captured by Ruptly’s drone on Thursday. The famed facility once hosted an injured Adolf Hitler.

The former tuberculosis clinic was erected in the 19th century. During the First World War parts it served as a military hospital, where Hitler was treated after the Battle of the Somme. The site was occupied by the Soviet Army in 1945 and the premises were used as a military hospital up until 1995. Parts of the complex continued to assist people with psychiatric illnesses up until 2000. The site also featured in Roman Polanski’s acclaimed Oscar-winning film “The Pianist” in 2002.
