A new fuel price protest took place in Haiti on Tuesday, drawing hundreds on to Port-au-Prince’s streets. Tires were burnt and there was a heavy armed police presence. There have been many recent protests across Haiti calling for lower fuel prices. The National Platform of Unions Transport Faithful (PNFTS) has called for two days of strikes on March 9 and 10 to put further pressure on the authorities into resolving the issue. Many Haitians are also calling for President Michel Martelly to step down.
