Tens of thousands took to the streets of Moscow and St. Petersburg on Sunday to march in memory of prominent opposition figure Boris Nemtsov, who was shot dead on Friday evening in the heart of the Russian capital. People walked through the downtown of both cities holding flags, flowers and Nemtsov's portraits

Late on Friday, a white vehicle reportedly pulled up close to Nemtsov before an unknown assailant unleashed a series of shots, hitting the ex-Russian deputy PM several times. President Vladimir Putin ordered the head of the Investigative Committee to take personal control of the investigation.
