US, Canadian & Latvian armed forces hold joint 'winter' drills

US, Canadian and Latvian servicemen held winter military drills near the Latvian city of Vidzeme on Thursday. The joint military maneuvers involved topography and navigational tasks, weapon and equipment handling as well as medical and firing exercises. The soldiers had to swim through ice-cold water, drive LAV III armored vehicles and handle advanced weapons. The objective was to exchange combat skills and knowledge under extreme weather conditions.
