Clashes erupted between police and anti-government protesters in the Haitian capital of Port-au-Prince on Wednesday after thousands marched against President Michel Martelly. Cars and tires were set on fire by protesters, with some throwing stones at security forces who responded by firing tear gas. The Haitian parliament was dissolved on January 13. The political crisis erupted when the opposition accused President Martelly of forcing Haiti into a political deadlock.
