At least 7 people were killed and dozens more left injured as a tram stop in the Leninsky district of Donetsk was shelled on Thursday morning. A trolleybus was hit in the shelling along with a nearby car which caught on fire, incinerating the driver. Buildings in the surrounding area had their windows blown out and were badly damaged by the blast.
The incident marks the second attack on public transport in Donetsk in recent weeks. Twelve civilians died and many others were injured when a bus travelling on a road near the town of Volnovakha was shelled on January 13.
As yet neither the Central Kiev government nor the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR/DPR) have accepted responsibility for the attack.
