Clashes erupted between anti-government protesters and police in Port-au-Prince on Sunday. Thousands rallied over the Haitian Congress’ failure to approve Evans Paul's nomination to replace Florence Duperval Guillaume as prime minister. Protesters burned tires and riot police dispersed crowds with water cannon and rubber bullets. Several large protests have taken place in Haiti over the recent weeks, with demonstrators calling for the resignation of President Michel Martelly and demanding that elections take place before October 2015.
