Thousands call for marijuana decriminalization in Argentina

Thousands of Argentinians growing and using marijuana gathered outside Congress in Buenos Aires on Thursday to demand the drug’s decriminalization. Protesters smoked openly and urged the government to join a public debate on marijuana, citing Uruguay's recent relaxation on drug laws.

Uruguay is the first nation in the world to announce it will sell government-grown marijuana. In North America, two US states have recent passed legislation allowing the recreational use of marijuana.
