Russian truck giant snaps up British tractor maker

KAMAZ, Russia’s largest truck maker has bought British tractor producer McCormick for an unspecified amount. McCormick, which is part of Italy's ARGO group, produces a range of tractors and is based in Doncaster, England.

Argo said last December the Doncaster plant would close and shift production to Italy.

Founded in 1969, KAMAZ is the largest Russian vehicle manufacturer and has its assembling lines in Poland, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Ethiopia and Vietnam.

The plant is located in Russia’s Republic of Tatarstan on the Volga river.

In October, Rostselmash – Russia’s most well-known manufacturer of agricultural machinery – bought Canadian tractor maker Buhler.
