A New York City jury convicted Ross Ulbricht on seven criminal counts Wednesday, threatening to potentially impose a life sentence on the supposed founder of the Silk Road website. Though the 30-year-old’s defense team called into question the tactics with which the FBI obtained their evidence connecting Ulbricht to the “deep web” site, jurors deliberated for only 3.5 hours before finding him guilty of narcotics trafficking conspiracy, continuing a criminal enterprise, computer hacking conspiracy and money laundering conspiracy. Oil workers in four states are still striking to demand better pay working conditions, forcing Shell, Exxon and Chevron to bring in ‘scabs’ to work in their place. Backed by the United Steelworkers, the demonstrating employees, however, say they are willing to continue their action against the energy giants. RT’s Ameera David reports.
