In his State of the Union address on Tuesday, President Barack Obama announced he would begin pushing Congress to “authorize the use of force” against the Islamic State. Although military strikes against the terrorist group have been underway since the summer of 2014, legislators have never given the president formal permission to conduct these operations in what many describe as yet another American war. NASA’s Dawn spacecraft is approaching the dwarf planet Ceres, and will soon begin searching for signs of life. Launched in 2007, the probe has journeyed hundreds of millions of miles to the object and already has begun sending back digital images. RT’s Lindsay France explains why scientists believe the mission is so important.
