RT America -- October 2, 2014
On the 145th birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, renowned peace activist’s grandson is warning that the world is on the brink of World War III, and the entire world bares responsibility. Arun Ghandi told RT’s Manila Chan that exploitation of the weak by means of economic and political colonialism is one of the main causes of conflict in the world, and we must reverse course to prevent further violence. The activist also offered his take on the Islamic State, the Israel-Gaza conflict, and other issues.
A US bankruptcy judge on Monday ruled Detroit may continue shutting off water to thousands of residents who are behind on their bills. This past March, the financially troubled city began sending thousands of shutoff notices to citizens, completely ending service for many. A large public outcry and even appeals to the UN for help ensued, but the city has continued its controversial practice that many say is harming low-income minority communities. RT’s Manila Chan gets a reaction on the ruling from attorney Alice Jennings, who is representing some of those affected.
