RT America -- August 27, 2014

Douglas McArthur McCain, a 33-year-old San Diego native, may be the first American killed while fighting for the radical Islamic State. One of three foreign jihadists recently killed while fighting in Syria, McCain and his fellow fighters may represent just a small portion of the total numbers of Westerners fighting with IS. Authorities warn over 100 American citizens may be among the militants’ ranks. Iraq War veteran and doctoral researcher Jake Diliberto discusses with RT’s Ameera David what is prompting Westerners to fight alongside the Islamic militants.

Active in fighting against racial injustice in the Bronx, hip-hop duo Rebel Diaz is also seeking to raise support for residents of Ferguson, MO. The brothers are holding a benefit concert Wednesday night in New York City to benefit the community that was rocked by unrest after the police killing of Michael Brown. Rodrigo and Gonzalo both met with the 18-year-old’s family, and share what they learned about “the gentle giant” with RT’s Ameera David.
