RT NABS 3 MEXICAN PRESS CLUB AWARDS — INCLUDING 1 FOR FREEDOM OF SPEECH
MOSCOW, MARCH 30 — RT Spanish has won the Mexican Press Club Award “for growth and freedom of speech advocacy,” with ‘The Keiser Report and John Pilger’s exclusive interview with Julian Assange also being honored. This is the fourth year that RT has won awards from the Club.
“The Mexican Press Club has marked the growth of RT’s television channels and its extensive coverage in many countries. RT protects freedom of speech and the audience’s right to diverse information despite the pressure and attacks it faces,” said the Club’s Secretary-General Celeste Saenz de Miera.
“We are grateful to our colleagues in Mexico’s professional community for acknowledging our contribution. We are particularly happy about receiving the Growth and Freedom of Speech Advocacy Award. RT journalists simply do their job, telling the viewers about the things they witness,” RT Spanish Editor-in-Chief Victoria Vorontsova said.
RT’s ‘Keiser Report’ received the Press Club Award in the Financial Analysis category, while John Pilger won in the Interview category for his piece with WikiLeaks Editor-in-Chief Julian Assange, which aired exclusively on RT.
In 2016, RT Spanish was awarded in the Best News Coverage category, particularly for its coverage of the Syrian conflict. Previously, RT Spanish won the Best TV Channel award two years in a row, in 2014 and 2015.
