Channel change: RT moves from UK’s Freeview 85 to 135 on Sept 3

Channel change: RT moves from UK’s Freeview 85 to 135 on Sept 3

From September 3, RT can be found on a new digital channel. The global news network will be moving from Freeview Channel 85 to Channel 135. Six news channels in total will be affected by these planned schedule changes, including BBC News and Sky News.

Freeview is the UK’s most prolific digital terrestrial television service, with more than 55 million viewers nationwide. While RT has been broadcasting in Britain since 2006, Freeview has been the channel’s platform of choice since 2010.

As a progressive international news channel with over half a million weekly viewers, RT tops other leading news channels such as Euronews and Fox News in the Broadcasting Audience Research Board’s (BARB) ratings.

RT broadcasts 24/7 in English, Arabic and Spanish from its global studios in Moscow and Washington, DC, to 700 million viewers worldwide.

Having just received its third International Emmy nomination for news, RT is a welcomed media presence in Britain that challenges dominant power structures and broadens the nation’s media landscape.

Recent research by premier media analysts reveals RT’s informative news coverage and alternative take on current affairs draws viewers from all corners of the UK who have grown weary of a bland British broadcast culture.

RT broadcasts 24/7 in English, Arabic and Spanish from its global studios in Moscow and Washington, DC, to 700 million viewers worldwide. It is the first TV news channel in history to gain over a billion YouTube hits. It is also the winner of the Monte Carlo TV Festival Awards for best 24-hour broadcast channel.
