It's been a disappointing end to the weekend for Russian Mikhail Youzhny at the Japanese Open.
The 27-year-old had no answer to the power of Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, losing in straight sets in the Tokyo final.
The Frenchman seized momentum from the get go cruising to a 6-3, 6-3 victory to lift his third title of the year in the process.
The win edged the Le Mans native closer to qualifying for the ATP World Tour finals coming up in November.
Tsonga is now the third Frenchman to win a singles title in as many weeks – alongside Gael Monfils and Gilles Simon, while Youzhny is still awaiting his first of the season.
In the meantime, there has been much better news for Youzhny's compatriot Svetlana Kuznetsova.
The St Petersburger clinically dismantled the challenge of Agnieszka Radwanska in the Beijing decider. 6-2, 6-4 was how the one-sided final ended up.
It’s Kuznetsova's second crown in 4 years in China.
