Number one ranked Roger Federer and Serena Williams top the lists of seeded players for the Australian Open, which also include ten Russians.

The men's seeds announced on Thursday follow the ATP rankings exactly from first to 32nd position. Last year’s finalists Roger Federer and world No. 2 Rafael Nadal top the list, followed by 2008 Australian champion Novak Djokovic. Two Russians, including this year’s Qatar Open winner Nikolay Davydenko, and Mikhail Youzhny are there as well, in 6th in 20th position respectively.

There are more Russian names on the women's list. With Belgian Yanina Wickmayer out, the list includes former tennis queen Dinara Safina (2nd), French Open champion Svetlana Kuznetsova (3rd), 2008 Olympic champion and medalist Elena Dementiaeva (5th) and Vera Zvonareva (9th) as well as Maria Sharapova (14th), Nadezhda Petrova (19), Alisa Kleibanova (27th) and Elena Vesnina (28th).

The tournament will kick off on January 18 and will last for two weeks.

Meanwhile, Elena Dementieva and Serena Williams are already demonstrating their brilliant form down under. Both have booked their places in the Sydney International final. A deciding stand-off is planned for Saturday.
