Team Spain turned in a blistering performance down under to dump Australia out of the Hopman Cup.
Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez teamed up with fellow veteran Tommy Robredo to secure a 3-0 win over the hosts and make their way into the final.
Sanchez more than held her own against favorite Samantha Stosur. The Australian never really settled into her rhythm, with the 27-year-old Sanchez prevailing 6-4, 6-1.
Robredo was up next, knowing a victory against Lleyton Hewitt would see Spain through. Former world No. 1 Hewitt was clearly not 100% prepared, losing out 6-2, 6-4.
Spain then went on to seal the 3-0 win in mixed doubles.
Team USA, meanwhile, was handed two automatic victories over Romania due to an injury to Victor Hanescu.
It means little though, as the Americans finished second in the group behind Spain, which will face the opposition of Great Britain in the final.
