Former tennis queen Justine Henin has announced her return to professional sport next year.
Henin, who has claimed seven Grand Slam titles as well as an Olympic gold in 2004, had been retired for just over a year, but is now looking forward to clinching an eighth Grand Slam title.
The announcement, made on Belgian TV, comes after her `definitive decision' to leave the courts last year and barely a week after compatriot Kim Clijsters won the U.S. Open following a two-year break.
The 27-year-old plans to play two exhibition tournaments in Charleroi and Dubai before competing in official WTA events.
“A flame I thought was extinguished forever suddenly lit up again,” she said.
